You’re not lost —you’re just addicted to certainty.
Stir up conviction by calling out the addiction to control!
This week, I was talking with my mentor about a familiar story about Abram. He said something profound.
Abram was under the flesh (tent) in Gen 15:5; therefore, he could not see his future. God had to pull him out from underneath the tent (flesh) to prophesy to him. - Dr. Vivian Rodgers
Abraham couldn’t see his future because he was stuck under the tent. Where are you stuck in your process?
Family
Business
Life
Faith
The tent symbolises the following: —
A temporary structure,
A symbol of comfort,
A temporary halt in the process,
A blockage
Or hindering in the process…
This was limiting his perspective. It wasn’t until God called him out from under that flesh, that familiar fabric, that God could truly prophesy to him.
Sometimes, we’re waiting on a sign, a word of encouragement, or even the next big idea, but we’re still hiding under the tent of our own control and fear of losing control.
- Let’s bring that closer to home.
In business, we pitch tents made of flesh too. We get caught in performance mode. We rely on strategy over surrender.
We obsess over metrics, milestones, and margins — trying to manifest a God-sized vision with man-made maps.
But here’s the truth:
You can’t get divine direction from a flesh-based framework. (However, divine is defined in your world)
Abraham had none of the tools we now consider essential for leadership: no Google Maps, no GPS, no 5-year strategic plan. All he had was a Word.
“Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
He wasn’t told where.
He wasn’t told how long.
He wasn’t told what it would cost.
He was just told: Go.
That’s the walk of faith.
That’s visionary leadership.
You won’t always have clarity, but you will always have a call.
You won’t always have confirmation, but you will have conviction.
You won’t always feel ready, but you’ll know it’s right.
Sometimes, that’s all you need:
To walk.
To trust.
To build.
To believe.
Like Abram, you’re called to move before the destination is revealed.
To take action before the applause.
So here’s your reminder:
You don’t need all the details. You just need to obey the direction.
Get out from under the tent.
Get out from the flesh of business.
You’re not lost — you’re led.
And as you go, the vision will unfold.
You are one decision away from your next level of progress. Assess where your mental state is currently.
Mess → Maintenance → Momentum or Mastery?
You can’t influence the future from maintenance mode. So let’s make a shift!

You are not just building a successful life. You are building a system that others can succeed within.
